(Received January 21, 7.31 p.m.) Adelaide, January 21. The Englishmen, with one wicket down for 98, continued their second innings. Hayward (44) and Tyldesley (4) faced the bowling of Trumble audllowell. In Trumble's first over Tyldesley gave Hill a hot chance at short leg, which was not held. In Tnunble's next over he beat Hayward with a beautiful ball. The latter had been in an hour and fifty-four minutes for his 47. Tyldesley and Quaife added 13 to the score, when the former was run out. Jessop followed, and knocked up 16 in eighteen minutes before he was bowled by Trumble. 4 for 144. Braund was bowled by Howell when the score was at 165. At the luncheon adjournment Quaife and Lillcy were together, the former having been in an hour and five minutes for 10 runs. When play was resumed the wind was blowing a gale, with the air full of dust. Howell and Trumble bowled, but the former »vas not troubling the batsmen, and at 194 McLood relieved him. In his second over, McLeod just failed to reach a low return from Lilley, who had made 21. At three o'clock the dust became so thick that the scoring board was unreadable and play was suspended, and at 5.20 p.m. the stumps were drawn. The additional English scores are :—Hayward, 47 ; Tyldesly, run out, '25 ; Quaife, not out, 27 ; Jessop, bowled Trumble, 16; Braund, bowled Howell, 17; Lilley, not out, 21; extras, 7 ; total, 5 wickets for 204. Trumble has taken 3 wickets for 60, Howell 1 for 60, and Noble 0 for 68.
