MUNICIPAL COMMITTEES.
A meeting of tho Masterton Borough Council Gas, Library, and Fire Brigade Committee was hold last evening. Cr. R. K. Jackson presided, and Crs. W. Morris and P. L. Hollings were also present. Advice was received that two thousand feet of 3-inch gas mains, ordered some time back, would arrive at an early date. Decided to use the mains to re-place those in Worksop-road, the latter being inadequate to supply thefincreased number of consumers. It was resolved to order a further supply of mains for the purpose of completing the reticulation from the gas-works along Bannis-ter-street to Colombo-road in order to connect with the Worksop-road main, and when finished to erect a lamp at the junction of Colombo and Bannisterstreets. It was decided that for the current year and in future the Borough General Account bo charged a yearly sum of £i 10s per lamp for gas used. That the gas service in Williamstreet be replaced with a li inch pipe. The Fire Brigades requested that a 3inch pipe bo placed on the Park Oval. The applicants stated their willingness to find the labour, etc., if tho Borough would supply the pipes, and pointed out that the work would be very advantageous. The matter was recommended to the favourable consideration of the Council.
