PAHIATUA NEWS.

Mr A. Hempton, accountant at the Bank of New Zealand, loft last week for Taranaki, in order to join the army of Benedicts. His numerous friends will wish him and his bride every happiness.
Mr G. Lundon, manager of the Bank of New South Wales, who has been taking a holiday for the benefit of his health returned from the South on Friday, feeling better for tho change. • There was a fair muster of volunteers at the Church parade on Sunday morning, and a largo number of the public. The Ecv. James McCaw conducted the service, the hymns being played by the Pahiatua Band. After the service the officers and their friends were entertained at dinner. In the afternoon a largo crowd visited the camp, afternoon tea being dispensed by the members of the Corps. Tho Woodville Battalion Band, and the Pahiatua Band played some very nice selections during the afternoon. The weather was simply perfect. The Presbyterian Sunday School picnic is to be held on Anniversary Day.
The Pahiatua Cycling Club will have some races on Anniversary Day, and will finish up with a dance in the evening. Mr E. C. Bruce (late M.H.E., Bangitiki) is to give a lecture entitled " The Poets," in aid of the Presbyterian Church Painting Fund in the Olympic Theatre, on Friday evening, and an address to the settlers in the afternoon.
