THE KING'S CORONATION.

One of the Penalties of Federa-

tion

(Received Januarij 21, 'J a.m.)

Sydney, This Day,

The Telegraph endorses the distinction made by the Imperial authorities between the Hons. Barton and Seddon and the State Premiers at the Coronation. It is a logical consequence of Federation, and it was never to be expected that the several sovereign Premiers would be recognised under Federation. It is enough that due Honor is paid by the Government of the Commonwealth, as one proper channel of high communication with the Imperial authorities.

Pekth, This Day

The Premier approves of New Zealand being placed in a different position from the other States, and should have the preference of individual States of tho Commonwealth, which is one of the natural penalties of Federation.
