Now that there is likely lo be a considerable export of poultry lo Smith Africa mi impetus to (he industry will probably result, and a large proportion of settlers, will devote llicir attention to it. Our .Special Contributor, in his weekly chapter on Farm Notes, which will be found on the fourth page, to-day, gives some practical information in reference to the management of fowls, as forwarded lo him from a Mitnawatu correspondent, who has had a good deal of experience in that particular line. In that portion of the chapter will be found directions for feeding fowls, with suggestions for keeping them in good health, allusion being also made to the necessity for care in selecting eggs for hatching, to sec that they come from good hiving strains of birds, lleference is also made to the effect of the rapid dcvelnnnient of the dairying industry in and around Palmerston N., as evidenced by the enhanced value of land, ami the projected erection of another factory for the X.ft, Farmers' Dairy L'nion. Among other subjects dealt with are that of the effects of poultry in orchards, a few hints on pig-breeding for baeoners, and polalo growing, with suggestions about seed and treatment of soil, breeding horses for Army purposes, and a remedy for scaly blight in apples,
