Donald, A, Stomp, nml 0 C. Snnnnerell. Apologies for nbsonco were received from llio President nml Messrs J, L Murray, E. E. Chamberlain, J. Graham J. G, Dalrymplo, E, (i, Eton, J, Elliott, T, Duncan and I, Sykcs. Tlio Treasurer's statement allowed n credit Imlnnco of .CIO 7s Gd, Two accounts, amounting to X!) Ids, were passed for payment. A letter was received from the Tiusl Land's Trust, in reply to a coiiiinimicnlion from tho Chamber, stilling (lint they had decided to connect with the telephone exchange. The Secretary reported Hint the Slocli Department had also been connected, hut he had not yet received a reply from the A. nml P. Association on the matter, In reply to circular Idlers from the Mastertou Chamber on the holiday question letters were received from the Auukland, Napier, and Dimcdin Chambers. The latter and the former Chambers stated that they had communicated with I lie various banks on (ho matter, who had expressed their wi'lingness to consider it. The Secretary slated that ho had written to twelve different Chambers, He pointed out that it was not so much the Haul; holidays which the Mastcrton Chamber were considering, but those affecting the business people. A printed circular, covering a series of resolutions in connection with tho Employers' Liability Act, was received from the Taranaki Chamber. The members expressed thc ; " approval of the resolutions and considered the Act wns a serious mutter. The correspondence was received. The Feilding Chamber wrote in reference to the appointment of delegates to writ on (lie Premier mid urge the establishment of State lire insurance, Mr Keith remarked that State lire insurance had already been introduced. Mr Sunimercll said ho did not th i,o t it was necessary to take action as Mr Seddon, whether or not seriously, had introduced State lire insurance, It was decided to reply to the Feilding Chamber to that effect, The Secretary reported that he had not received n reply from the Town Clerk, respecting the application for a list of subscribers to the Town Clock Fund, Mr Stcmpa mentioned that he had called at the Town Clerk's ollicc for tho list about a month ago and wns then promised it, but lie had never received it. The Chairman did not link it was advisable to let the matter drop after going so far, and it was resolved to again apply for n list of subscribers. Mr Keith stated that steps were now being taken to form n public abattoir company,
