The fires threatened the township of Young for some time, Bombala is at present surrounded by a wall of (ire, aud a gale is raging. The townspeople are engaged iightiug the flames. Destruction of Valuable Paintings. I Received December 18,9.6 a.m.) London, December 17. Prince Deleigton's chatoau at Beloilliasbeon burnt, and hie priceless collection of pictures by Holbein, Vandyck, Reubens and Relaequez have been destroyed. Tho property was insured for four hundred thouI sand sterling.
