-——♦ {From Our Own Cmcspomhnll, Friday. Special interest is being taken in tho entertainment organised by Messrs K. W. Tate and M. li. Varnhani, in aid of the Trmisvnal llelicf Fund, as il will be an easy and pleasant way for numbers of people to show their sympathy, who aro not ablo to contribute large sums. Tho triennial election of couservalors for the Waiohine ltiver Board will take place on the Kith inst. Mr William Workman, the overseer of the (rreytown-Moroa water-races, commenced his duties on the 3rd inst. Ho was appointed to the office nearly tiro months ago. The annual meeting of the contributors to the South Wairarapa Hospital will ho held on January 11th. We arc having a very varied assortment of weather down here just now. No day passes without several quick changes, but the one most desired will uot come, namely raiu, which in very many cases isurgeutly needed on account of the crops.
Harvesting operations are in full swing in all directions, aud the result will be very fair crops on the average, although it is thought that the yiolds will not be so heavy as 1 ast soasou.
