WOODVILLE ANGLERS' ASSOCIATION.

Tlic animal meeting of the a bore was held last Friday, v.lioti it was decided" tlint itboarecomniemlalion from the Wellington Acelimatisation Society to the Conference that the fishing season start on the Ist of October, and end on the 30th April." The report as follows was read and adopted

Your Committee have much pleasure in reporting that they have indications that the young lish liberated during the past two seasons are thriving. The number of young fish procured from the Wellington Acclimatisation Society during l$)(i was fully -10,000, and they included several thousand rainbows, which we hope to see thriving in the district,

The lish arc placed in the ilangaatua, Murphy's creek, Mangapapa, and Mangamania.

\\ ear«sorry to hear that no young fish were received from the Hawke's Hay Society last year, and had it not been for the arrangements made with tl,( Wellington Society, the district would have been completely neglected in this respect. N e are pleased to see the efforts made by the Jlawkc's liny Society last year to suppress poaching were to ji ♦,'xtcnt successful, nml ure glad to know that the ranger lias been appointed permanently, We fire(pii!satisfied th;il. iiulwuli.stundiDL'thf nuinbiT of convictions olj-' lained by the Ranger, there is still! a lot of poaching going on in the district, especially in the smaller streams, the Natives being great transgressors in this respect. The Oruakeretaki is a favourit'o hunting ground for them. Tiio stream has hitherto been a good lisbing stream, but last year the anglers found that their" takes" were considerably less than previously, and I hey can only account for it by the nefarious practices of poachers. We hope I hat I lieHa wke's Day and Wellington Societies will not forget this part of the district when the young lish are ready for distribution, for it will take a number of years yet before the streams in our neighbourhood are thoroughly stocked.

There was an increase of fishing licenses in this localily Inst season, and pur Committee, from indications, can safely say that the number will be largely increased this. We would wish to point out, however, tlmt the present arrangement of issuing licenses to ladies and boys is not at all satisfactory, tho fee being the same amount, The former do very littlo fishing, but tho latter are all over the fishing ground, and with their companions aro a constant trouble to the older anglers. As the Wellington Socioty has resolved to open tho season on tho 15th September, your Committee 'hope that tho Hawke's Bay Society will declare tlie season open on the same dute."
