(Sceekal August 17, ffl.oa p,m.l Lon'dox, August 1(J, At tho result of enquiries into the deaths from ptomaine poisoning of two children at Lichfield after dining on Australian mutton, Messrs Wcddcll and Co,, report that tho butcher who supplied tlia meat purchased eight hindquarters of Sydney frozen mutton. With tho exception of the half quarter pur- + aliased by the family alfectcd, all tho mutton was consumed without tho consumers experiencing any ill effect-. Tho doctor who examined tlity meat holds the opinion that, it contracted poisonous qualities from the surroundings where it was kept after being cooked.
