Charitable Aid Board at to-day's' meeting stated that be bail written * to the Inspector of Hospitals at Wellington, asking him to inform tlio Board whether it was the duty of tho Board to supply rations to destitute aboriginal natives. No reply lias been received yet, lie (the secretary) said tho police were of
opinion that the Government was responsible for the supportof indigent t Maoris under the Treaty of Waitangi. The Chairman said the Board lmd it number of destitute Maoris at the North Shore on its ration list.
