(Received February 20,9, -15 a.m.J London, February 19, Despatches state that the Emir of Nupe is re-forming the Folks outside tho frontiers of Nupe with the intention of making a renewed attack on the British, Capetown, February 10. The Bechuanas repulsed a detachment of Cape rifles atßunderberg in British Beoliuanaland. Lieut. Hopkins and one trooper wero killed. London, February 19.
In the liouso of Commons Mr Chamberlain announced that a message had been received from the Transvaal Government claiming the sum of £67,938 for material damage resulting from the Jameson raid and a million in respect of damage to the country on moral and intellectual grounds. He stated that tho wording of the communication was ambiguous; possibly the total amount claimed would be n million, though ho thought this was not so. The
announcement was received with laughter. Tho papers ridicule the claim.
