THE WAIRARAPA CONTEST.
In another column a telegram of special interest appears referring to the WairarapaElection, Thehighest legal authority obtainable in Wellington ooudemns tho action of MiAdam Armstrong, the Returning Officer, in rejecting Mr Coleman Phillips' nomination, and intimates! that the election will have to bB fought over again. In an article which we published on the 23rd ultimo, under the heading of " Tho Seddonese Twins," we made ut strong protest against the Premier's highhanded conduct in appointing Mr Armstrong to the position which he holds. This article appears to have attracted considerable attention outside, and it is now apparent that the Premier has, in his bitter hostility to Mr Buchanan, overshot his mark. Honesty is, after all, the best policy; and though 'Mr Buchanan may be put to a considerable amount- of trouble in retaining the seat which he has held so long, he will triumph yet over the unfair tactics of an unscrupulous Government.
