The finance Committee met this morning. Present.—Messrs Mauusell. Groves, Von iieden, Cockburnliood, Smith, and Beetham,

It was decided to recommend that (lie Clerk was authorised to engage the necessary assistance for preparing plaints and summoning defaulting ratepayers in arrears moro than one year, the costs to be charged against tho 10 per cent, penalty of eaeli riding. Accounts amounting to £IO4O were recommended for payment. - Resolved to refer a claim from tho Mauricoville pound-keeper for a refund of the proceeds of tho sale of a horso to the Masterton Road Board.

Resolved to ask the Mauricevillo Road Board whether they are prepared to pay half the cost of painting the pouud. Resolved to recommend that the Clerk deal with Mr Bellino's claim against P. Lynch, the Council accepting no responsibility. ' Resolved that the County Solicitor be instructed to prepare a form of consent, by the Council's employes to deduction from pay of premiums for Accident Insurance, and that all employes be required to sign the same; also that a similar consent having similar effect, be attached to all conditions in connection with works let by contract.
