EKETAHUNA ROAD BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Ekclaliuuu Jtouil JJoarcl look place on Saturday, Juno 6th. Present—Messrs Anderson (chairman), J. Hare, Bayliss, Bourko, Meilsen, Ktcaithley, and Mowbray. The minutes of the previous mooting wore read mid confirmed, licsolved that the Clerk ho instructed to take stops to raise a loan of £2OO to construct the road from tho end of tho present formation to tho eastern boundary of section 75, block XI and XIV, Mangaono District, known as Mangaoronga lioad. The sections to be rated for the proposed loan are sections 7d and 70, and Educational Itcscrye 250 acres. That Mr Nation bo informed tlmt the Board have already made a request to the Government for a grant and have laid the matter before the representative of tho district, but cannot see its way clear to send a delegate to Wellington at present. The Board will, however, correspond with Shannon in their endeayor to get a road made. That Mr Brown be asked to clear the timber out of the stream near tho culvert that is iu front of his property. That ilie Clerk be instructed to prepare a statement showing how the i'soo Government grant for Parkville has been expended, the statement to he placed before the 13oard at next meeting.

That the Clerk bo authorised to pay Mr Balliager for bush-felliug as far as funds will allow and that Mr Ballingor he informed that the balance will be paid as soon as tlio money is in hand. That Mr Henry's application for tram line bo granted on payment of iJIO per annum, and to have the road, when finished, in good state of repair. The money to be paid in advanco That the surface mail put in three days clearing out water tables leading from Newman as far as Herbert's section.

That Mr Eaton be allowed to erect a gate across the Makakaki road near his property. That tho School Committee be informed that the Board will improve the road leading to the school as far as funds will allow.

That Mr Connor, Mr Vile, and Mr Bacon he informed that as there is no money in hand after repairing Central road, Parkville, they cannot put in the culvert asked for but would suggest that the parties interested go in for 11 loan. That the Clerk be instructed lo take proceedings against F. Bright to pay license under by-law for wheel traffic.

That the Clerk be authorised to instruct Mr Smith of Pahiatua to conduct the case taken against Mr Bright on behalf of tho lload Board.

-That the Engineer instruct Jlr Brilt to repair that portion of the Mangaone Valley lioad which he has damaged through carting metal to the Tawatuia road. That the gravel pit referred to by Mr Fauvpl bo iilleil in, tlio cost not to oxreed £3, mid that one foot of earth bo put oil top o£ the logs. That the Surveyor-General lie informed the Board considers liis letter of the 19th Alay unsatisfactory. The Hoard desires to again point-out that each of the owners of Sections referred to in the previous letter have paid (is per acre, which the sections were weighted, and no moneys have been expended 011 any one, in any way benefitting the said sections.

That the Clerk write to the Secretary of (ho Colonial Treasury in reference to tlio moneys raised under the Government Loan to Local Bodies Act, lS8(i, and ask whether the ratepayers can obtain any relief under the .Local Authorities Loans Conversion Act, 18115, by converting the loans,

That the Clerk be authorised to take steps towards making a County District instead of the present ltoad Hoard. With regard to Mr vou Men's statement at the last County Council meeting that" about two pounds out of three pounds ten in rates lie had paid was absorbed in administration and only the remaining thirty shillings were available for road purposes," the Board's Chairman (Jlr Anderson) said this was untrue.
