NATIVE WEDDINGS.
A largo gathering took placo at [the Te Oro Ore pah yesterday, to celebrate the marriages of Mr Joseph Sheridan to Miss Pikihuia Manihera, and Te Ata Raburuhi to Mi6S Te Putu Marere, reported in our issue! of yesterday. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Father Mela, the bridesmaids being Mate Kino Hawea, Ruma Karaitiana, Te Oiim Anaru,and Miss Pohia.At the banquet held afterwards, speeches were delivered by Hapeta Whakamairu, Te Hori te Huki, Nireaha Tamaki, and others, In the evening, a largo dance was held in the meeting house, fully 300 persons being present, including many Europeans. Excellent mußie was supplied by Messrs Fitzsimmons, Cameron, and Light, and dancing was kept up until early this morning, Mr J. Lewis, of Greytown, acting as M.C. The gathering was one of the most ordorlyand well-behaved ever held at the pah, a pleasing feature being the complete absence of intoxicants.
