GREYTOWN BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The adjourned meeting of the abovd Coancil was held id the Council room last evening. Present: Hi»Worship the Mayor (Mr F. H, Wood), (Irs W. Udy, H. Bright, 0. J. Beard, J. D. Hengorty, T. Kempton, J. Fabian, H. McMastor and tho Borough solicitor (Mi/1 Ward Tate). The fflulca of the last mooting were read and confirmed. • Correspondence iswarda was read . from Tho Hon. Sec. Crown Lands, re appointment of Trustees to Grey- ;.,.. town Cemetery. \'( From the town Clerk of Carterton, re Mr W, Booth declining to act as ■■ representative to Charitable Aid Board. From Mr Tate, intimating that he bad admitted Mr J, B, Wither into partnership with him. From tho Police Department, stating that they considered that at present the Greytown Borough does not require a second constable. From the Greytown Fire Brigade, asMri&Mthe annual grant of £lO, FromrWi General Post Offioe Department acceding to the Council's < request to hive a letter carrier ap'U ■ pointed to Greytown.. y . The oasting vote of the Mayor carried the proptisition to obtain a ro-, port from the Borough Solicitor, ft 1 ) to tho fairness of the claim, as unless it was a legal one, tho Auditor would not pace it, The Finance Committee's report was then adopted, The Inspector's, Registrar's, and Poundkeeper's reports were read and adoptod.
A resolution was carried to execute the conveyance to the Council from Mr St. George. Cr Fabian spoke suggesting that the Council endeavour to procure tho Firo Brigade a new hose. Soveral Councillors spoke on tho subject remarking on tbe usefulness and ettioienoy of tbe Brigade, It was explained that tbe subscription list was being taken round (or that purpose and the Council could inot afford to give moro than the Hnnualurant,
