Serious Slips on the Railway, The Rims in High Flood, (By Telegraph-Special), Eketahuna, Thursday. The morning train from Eketabuna started at the usual hour thia morning, but has been nimble to return to Ekelahuna, or to reacb Mangamahoe. As far as is known at present the big filling, half a mile south of Eketahuna haß collapsed, and there is also a large slip betweeu Mangamahoe and ManriOßville, over two ohains in length, Wellington, Thursday. A slip is also reported on "the Riroutaka, but the extent is not yet known, Rfiund About Masterton, All tha rivers in the district are very mubh swollen, nnd are stated to be still, risiin;. A Eerious flood, is feared unless the weather clears up. Several miles of flat country round about the Waipoua and llumahunga were are completely inundated. Later. TheWaipoua Railway Rridge is considered unsafe. The water in in several bouses round Masterlon, Upbbi-b Bone and Mur« iay, of Churoh-street, have been engaged nearly all night trying to turn the flow.whioh sets almost directly on to'their properties. AH the houses between tho two Waipoua Bridges at the North end of Queen-street are surrounded by water. Slip on the Eketahuna-Wood-ville Road. Traffic Suspended, (By Telegraph.—Preaa Association.) _ Pahiatua, Thursday. A heavy flip occurred on the main road, noarly midway between Pahiatua and Woodvillo last night, completely blocking vehicle traffic. Passengers last night and this morning had to be transferred from the coach to another on the opposite side of tbe slip. It is expected tobo two or throe days before tho road is clear. Heavy rain fell all day yesterday, about two inches falling during last night. The Hutt Riuer. Napier, Thursday, The passengers by the 6.10 train last night from Palmeraton to Danevirke, underwent an unploasant ex» perience near tho Woodvillo end of the Manawatu Gorge, A large slip stopped the train and on trying to get back to Palmerston, it was found the return was blooked by another slip of earth, The falls were of such magnitude that they could not be removed last night, and the passengers could not get across, so they would have to spend a cold wet night, without blankets or food. Tho train is happily in a perfectly safe position. Very Latest Slipontheßimutaka. Great Damaqe in the Manawatu Gorge. Wellington, Thursday. A slip occurred near the summit on the Rimutaka last night, and train communication between Wellington and Masterton is interrupted.. Slips have also taken place on-the Napier line rear Woodville, and on the New Plymouth line, but these are not expected to seriously interfere with traffic.
