The Grading of Flax for Export.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Wellington, Thursday. A deputation introduced by Messrs Hogg and Buick, represented lo the Minister of Lands yesterday, on behalf oi tbe flaxuiillers of the West Coast, that ho should appoint an officer to grade New Zealand flax before it was exported from the colony. It was explained that under the present system millers were deprived of their profits by the middle men. The Hon. Mr MeKenziereplied that there was a difficulty becauso flnxmillera wore not unanimous, Ho was in favor of grading tho various articles of produce for export, and possibly legislation on the subject would be brought down this session.
