After breakfast the chairman referred to the loss the Temperance cause had sustained through the death of Sir William Fox, and moved " that this Convention desireß to place on record its appreciation of the noble life and work of the lato Sir William Fox, bis valuable services to the cause of Temperance reform." Mr. C. M. Luke, of Wellington, iu teeonding lhe resolution feelingly olluded to the death of Sir Harry Atkinson nnd the Hon Mr Ballance and testified bis high appreciation their work and that of Sir William Fox. The motion was then passed the whole assemblage standing and engaging in silent prayer. The Rev Mr Walker, organising Secretary of the NZ. Alliance next spoke, saying they did not intend to rest until tbe Direot Veto Bill, now in the House, had been passed. They felt hopeful because publio opinion bad very greatly changed during recent years, and even months, and it was astouisbing how their movement had progressed in tho House. Addresses were alsogivcn by tbo Rov. F. W, Isitt and Mr Harkness.
