MUNICIPAL FIRE BRIGADE.
Presentation of Medals.
The presentation of long service medals to various members of the Masterton Municipal Fire Brigade was made in the Brigade station last evening by His Worship the Mayor, in the presence of the members and officials oi the Borough Council, the Chairman of the Town Lands Trustees, and about forty firemen. The Mayor, in making the presen tation, said the long service medals spoke for themselves, und were so»e slight recognition of the invaluable services rendered to tha town by their recipients. He was sorry the insurance companies did not support the Brigade as they might. He felt sure that as individuals the Fire Brigade deserved their best thanks. The winners of the medals deserved the utmost approbation, and he hoped they would long live to wear them to the crodit of themselves and the town. (Applause). The medals were then handed to the respective firemen as follows . Captain Pickering, Lieut Tait, Lieut Baumber, Secretary Marsh, Treasurer Prangnell, Engineer Smith, and Branchman F. Bacon.
Captain Pickering briefly thanked the Mayor and Councillors for their attendance, and acknowledged the receipt of the medals. He hoped the younger members of the Brigade would live to be the recipients of similar marks of honour. (Applause), The Company then sat down to a capitcl spread provided by the members of the Brigade, after which a very enjoyable social gathering was heli.
