Megaphone was next to the rails, then came Highborn and Tantallon, with the favorite about eight from the inside. Aa soon as the colors could be plainly discerned it was seen that Annesley was in front, with Tantallon close op. Then came Paria, Carrington, Malvolio, Yarran, and Correze. In front of the stand Prelude led Paris by half a length, whilst Whimbrel was third, Aster, Strathmore and Pigeontoe following in that order. Up the river straight the order was Prelude, Strathmore and Sir William, after whom came Cobham, with Malvolio, Correze, and Pigeontoe the most prominent of the others. Round by the bridge Strathmore moved up, and at the abbatoirs Prelude cried enough and fell back beaten. Her place was taken by Sir William. Here Cobham, who was beginning to show outj prominently, . came down, Megaphone, N'Garoo, . and Prelude falling over him. Coming down towards the home turn Highborn, Oxide and Correze became conspicuous, while Strathmore had got into a bad position, being jammed on the rails. Oxide led into the straight from Highborn, after whom came Sir William, Malvolio, Forty Winks and Whinibrel in a cluster, with Strathmore making strenuous efforts to get out. When he did get clearut was too late, as Redfearn, on Malvolio, timing bis run beautifully, his mount out in the last furlong, and defeated Sir William by three quarters of a length, Strathmore being only a neck behind. Highborn was fourth, Forty Winks fifth, Pigeontoe eixtb, Oxide seventh, Dundas eighth, King Olaf ninth, with Annesley and Ronald next. Time, 3min 29} sec.
