ALFREDTON ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Board was held on July 21st. Present— Messrs Kebbell (chairman), H. Benton, John Boustead, Holmes Warren, and IS. M. George. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.
INWARDS CORRESPONDENCE. . From W. G. Beard, re claim for fresh survey by Beaufort. It was resolved that Mr Beard be instructed to act for the Board in the case Beaufort v. AH redton Koad Board. From A. W. Gould, requesting a settlement of Beaufort's accoun*, including the claim for fresh survey not acknowledged by the Board. The Clerk stated that on the previous MoDday a summons had been served at the office for the amount claimed, £49 lis, and that he had forwarded the same to the Board's solicitor. Mr Cross waited on the Board re fencing on District Road. It was resolved that the sum of £25 be paid Mr Cross in December, 1891, as promised by the Board in December, 1889.
From Survey office, requesting schedule of works executed from July Ist, 1890, to June 30tb, 1891. The Clerk stated that the information had been supplied.
From Clerk Eketahunaßoad Board, re proposals for thirds.—The Clerk stated that he had forwarded the same to the Xand Board for approval. From D. Danald, re work on the road to property. —The Clerk was instructed to write Mr Donald and the Pahiatua Council regarding the same. From Land Office, enclosing schedule of thirds.
From Auditor-General, with circular re arrears of rates, stating that they cannot check the same, and advising the Board to test the correctness of the same by enquiring privately and suing for the same.
From County Engineer, re regulating the traffic on the road the first winter after it is metalled.—The Clerk was instructed to thank the Engineer for his suggestion, and state that the .board will later on call a meeting to consider the matter.
From Eli Smith, requesting acheque for D. Kennedy's contract to be made out, to be handed over when the work ia completed.
The Clerk was instructed to sue Messrs Gates, Carnell, Gully and Wheeldon if their rates are not paid in a fortnight. The payment sheet amounted to £lßlossd.
Messrs George and Boustead signed cheques.
