Dairy cows varied according to their ago and, nearness to calving, good springers realising insomo cases as high as LG while dry :cows were hard to' quit at 12 to L2 10s. ' lii Beef, our sales have been limited to a few lines sold privately. We placed ono line of fat bullocks, 23. lioad, ,afc L 6 10s, calculated to weigh, 7001bs or about 17s perlOOlb. Cow and; heifer beef made L4los to L 5, about 'lis tho lOOlbs. The sale's were to local butchers, Wellington being supplied from the West Coast. In Sheep, tho demand has been tolerably active, but the too, sudden rise last month had the effect ot preventing legitimate business boing done through owners asking too much for stores. Hoggets have been enquired for, the great mortality in this class causing them to be in demand.

Fat wethers have not been very plentiful. The drought preventing the growth of winter feed and causing turnips to fail, kept back fat sheep, A few lines of ewes and lambs have changed hands, but the season for. this class has not yet commenced. Reports from all quarters speak of good lambing, tho weather being very favorable. The following are the rates obtained:—Fat wethers 113 to 12s fldor ljd to 2d, fat ewes, 10s to 12s; store wethers, 8s 9d to 9s for mediums, to 10s and lis for forward ; ewes and lambs to 7s Gd for good sorts; Hoggets 5b to 6s for good to os for weak sorts.

Houses.—Tho sales in horses havo been rather limited, although their values havo improved considerably of late which is duo ina great measure to the advent Of tho spring gras3. Fair youn« farm horses have been enquired for, making from £l2 to £lB, agec! farm horses, not going beyond £lO or £l2. Hacks havo improved in value lately, serviceable kinds ranging from £8 to £lO, while old town animals were hard to sell at £2 or £3; light harness horse 3 for brake or buggy sold fairly well from £8 to £12., Our sales include the draught entire horse Rufws to Mr Daniel Carman, who has besides getting a serviceable sire, has acquired a really, good farm horse, PIGS.-The sales in piss have been limited to porkers, stores and small sorts, Prices in all cases have ruled low, which is accounted for in several ways, tho low price of bacon being very discouraging to breeders,, and the grass being backward, and milk very scarce. Small porkers made 10s to 12s, largo stores, 12s to IDs, sinalr weauers and Blips 5b to 7s and Bs.

In praduco, sales have been very brisk. Wheat remained' at previous quotations. Oats for seed wore actively enquired for, good Canadians making 2s Gd to 2s fld, Black 2s 3d to 2s (id, Danish, 2s 3d, Feed oats varied according to quality . Potatoes,—The local productions have been absorbed some time back, this district now depending upon tho South for its supplies. Early seed have been very scarce.

Git Ass Seep.—Sprint' swim? has caused a revival in rye and cocksfoot, the prices being 3s Gd to 3s <kl and 4,|d to respectively. Tho poultry market has been very quiet, fowls making 2s Gd to 2s 9d, ducks 3s Gd.

Rabbit Skins,—Oiviti« to the oncouraging rates ruling at home of late, rabbit skins have been in great demand, winter Bkins making Is to Is Id, but those to come in will be inferior, and of less value. Sheep Skins.-The prices ranged from 3£d to 4d per lb. The CROPS.-We learn that a far greater area of both Wheat, Oats, and Barley have beon put under crop this season than previous seasons, many late parties not finishing until a few days ago, the continued wet during the latter part of August and the commencement of September interfering very much with all farming operations. W hat are abovo the ground appear strong and healthy, and only require a favorable season to completo large yields. Shearing has already commenced—that is, a few have shorn their fat Wethers for the butchers, but during this month, we expect toyiear of a few stations having shearing in full swing, and with good clips, heavy yields of grain, and a good potatoe crop, we shall predict a more prosperous future for this district than has been our lot in the past,
