Weary of life, he placed his coffin in a pit he must have dug himself, The dialoged earth ho put into a " long Tom," actually balanced near the yawniug gravo, To the end of the " long Tom" which contained the soil he attached a rope. Ho bored an aporture in the lid of the coffin large enough to allow the rope to pass through. He then quietly laid down in the coffin, drew the lid with the rope running through it over him, and with one resolute jerkk'illed and buried himself. Some Europeans were attracted by the sight of the up-ended "long Tom" and the rape passing into the ground.
