TOWN LANDS TRUST.

Thk monthly meeting of the Town Lands Trustees was held last night. Present Messrs Gapper (chairman), Parsons, Feist, Muir, and Perry. Theminuteßof the previous meeting, were read and confirmed.

Leave of absence for the meeting was granted to Mr Hare.

Mr Hare wrote suggesting that the Trustees should proceed with the selection of the ten acres to bo granted to them as compensation for the land taken at Kurupuni, The Chairman suggested in connection with the subject that t.|)ere was a standing dispute between Mrs Ewington and Mr M'Killop over the boundary of their land on the lower portion of the Education Reserve, and it would be worth while to make a survey of the whole, the Education's Trust paying half the cost. The Chairman moved that Messrs Perry, Parsons and the mover be a committee to authorize a Surveyor, and g<> with him to survey the ten aqres, Seconded by Mr Feist and carried.

It was resolved that the Secretary take proceedings to recover certain rents in arears.

Messrs Easthopo and J. . Willianiß waited upon the Trustees to ask for an annual grant towards the funds of the Fire Brigade.

Mr Easthopesaid that it appeared from the constitution of the Trust, that protection from fire was one of the useful purposes for which it existed. The Trust would also, in a short time, be the owner of a number of valuable building, They asked for £SO per annum. Mr Williams said the Brigade was really in great need of assistance." They were in great need of a new hose reeel and other appliances, The Chairman promised that the matter would-be duly considered by the Finance Committee,

The deputation thanked the Trustees and withdrew, The Trustees resumed the consideration of Mr Muir's motion, "that the present interest of the buildings be valued by one or more valuators, to be appointed by the Trustees and the person interested, such value to be a first oharge on the property at the expiration of the present lease, and to be deducted from the amount of compensation paid to the present leasees in the event of their not obtaining a continuance ot the lease, or paid by them if again successful," and after some discussion the motion was put and lost. This concluded the business.
