The Victorian quarterly returns give the revenue for the past three months at one million four hundred thousand, a decreaso on the corresponding period last year,, of twenty-four thousand, The principal falling off is in excise, land sales, and territorial revenue. Adelaide, October 1. The revenue for the past quarter is five hundred and thirty-one thousand, an increase of twenty-one thousand on the same period last year. Constantinople, September 30. The correspondencebetween the various ambassadors and sublime Porte, has been fixed for to-morrow (October Ist).
The Turkish War Office has mobilised eighty battalions of the reserve forces, and instructions have been given to recall as many troops as can be spared from the ; Island of Crete. Intelligence is to hand from Albania that the inhabitants of the Meredita district (to the southward of the Ibalea mountains) have risen in rebellion, and have seized a Turkish convoy. Sir Michael Hicks Beach addressed a public meeting at Salisbury last night, In the course of his speech he stated that Her Majesty's Government would endeavor to act in concert with the Great Powers, in order to bring about an equitable and peaceful settlement of the Roumelian difficulty. The quarterly revenue returns issued by the Treasury show a falling off of LCOO,OOO, as compaied with the corresponding period of 1884,

The quarterly revenue returns give for three months revenue one million six hundred and seventy thousand pounds, being an increase over the corresponding period last, year of fifty-nine thousand pounds. The improvement is chiefly in customs, railway, and post office revenue. In the Assembly last night Sir Henry Parkes gave notice to move for an immediate dissolution of Parliament. \ Melbourne, this day. The new Licensing Bill has been passed through Committee. The Russian Press generally expresses disapprobation at the action of Prince Alexander of Bulgaria, and appears bent on compassing his disposition from the throne, London, October 1. The death is announced, at the age of 84, of the Earl of Shaftesbury.
