LAND BOARD.

A meeting of tho Board was held yesterday morning, the following members being present Messrs Marclmnt (Commissioner and Chairman) Beotham, Bunny, Fitzherbert, Mason and MeCardle. The Chairman reported that no lands had been applied for since last meeting, either on lease or deferred payment.
The lessee of certain sections in Block VII, Mangaliao, was granted exemption from residence during the first two years, and it was resolved to extend the same privilege to other leaseholders under similar conditions,
A settler in Bluck VIII, Mangaliao, was granted leave to capitalize his unpaid instalments, bo as so obtain separate Crown grants, subject to all necessary conditions being fulfilled, The Chairman reported that certain Maorics were squatting on Paratieke Crown Lands, He was authorised to take the necessary steps for their ejection.
The perpetual lessee of section 115, block XIV,, Mangaone, applied for leave to transfer his lease. Permission was granted. A Mr Poison having pointed out that the Board had agreed to allow him to have a part of the Paratieke block at a valuation, so as to give him a practicable fencing boundary, the Board resolved to rescind their resolution of the 3rd ultimo, and to deal with the case in terms of section 16<f of the Land Act, 1885. Mr J. R. Blair .applied tohave Deferred Payment Section, No, 20, block XV., Mangahao, offered at auction for cash, in order that he might acquire it in connection with the cultivation of flax and the manufacture of paper. Mr Bunny moved, and Mr Fitzherbert seconded, a resolution to the effect that the said section be withdrawn from the Deferred Payment system, and offered as requested by Mr Blair. The motion was carried. It was resolved to offer a section in Kaiwhata similarly, so as to give an adjacent settler a good fencing boundary.
It was. resolved to offer sec. 32, Block XVI., Akatarawa, at auction as pastoral land, at an upset price of 5s per acre.
The Board again considered the report upon the Crown Lands adjacent to the Tiraumea-Woodville Special Settlement Block. Mr Beefcham moved, and Mr Bunny seconded, a resolution, That the Chief Surveyor be instructed to sectionize the block as soon as possible.—Carried. Mr A. R, F. Haultain applied for information regarding prospecting license, leases, and rental of acres to be prospected or held for the purpose of seeking minerals other than gold. The Seoretary was instructed to forward him a copy of the regulations.
Sections 3, 4, 5, and G of the village reserve, Kopuaranga, near Mauriceville, were reserved, so that the local authorities might have access to the 'same for obtaining gravel. The Chief Surveyor was instructed to proceed with the survey of the Crown lands in the vicinity of Hastwell's clearing and submit a scheme for thy Board's approval. » ;
Mr Beetham Board respectfully requests the Minister for Lands not to allocate any portion of the Mangatainoka Block for special settlement before the Minister and the. Board are in possession of tho scheme of settlement now being prepared by the Survey Department-. Mr Bunny seconded the motion, whioh was carried. The Board then adjourned,
