HANDICAP HURDLES. Zulu went away with the lead and cleared the first hurdles several lengths of Mountain Deer, Oribbage .keeping in the rear. At the second hurdle Mountain Deer ran off, and Cribbage then went for Znlu, the pace being very slow, both horses jumped very well, and on passing the judge, Zulu was leading by about six lengths, Power thou waited for Cribbage to come to the front, but Winteriughara knew too muoh to allow his horse to lead, feeling, muoh safer to follow. The pair kept well together for the seoond round, and as they cleared the second hurdle from home, simultaneously loud ories of " Cribbage wins" wore heard on all sides. The jumping of Mountain Deer was grand never once touching his hurdles, and had he not baulked at the seoond hurdle, must have won. At the last jump Zulu bored on to Cribbage, and drove bim nearly off the course, This being done so near the hurdle, it caused Cribbage to fall, and Zulu won easily, with Mountain Deer second.

A protest was entered by tho owner of Cribbage against Zulu for jostling, and Mr Sheath, owner of Zulu, said his impression was that Power was unnecessarily interfering with Cribbage, and when he taxed Power with it he said he was only running wide to get a place. Power was fined five pounds, and Mountain Deer declared the winner. The Stewards and others thought that the owner of Zulu had acted so fairly that he ought not to be a loser, and mado a collection amounting to .£l4. DISTRICT HANDICAP. v, Carry the News 1 Glaicks 2 Whitau 3 The 'News went away with the load and on passing the Judge was several lengths ahead of Glaicks, who then went for the front, but the lender had plenty in hand and would not allow tho colt to rob her of her position. At the back of the course Whitau hid her say and came up from the rear, but was not able to get to within some several lengths of the leading pair. On rounding up the straight, Cairy the News had a slight lead. Hill then got at Glaicks, but the mare had moat foot.and won a very exciting raco by about three lengths, Whitau being about tho same distance from Glaicks. Totalisator £BO, and three on winner, DitiJeud 124. Glaicks started a hot favorite, beingabouti'GOin the totalisator. RABBITERS HACK RACE. Hurricane 1 Rainbow ... 2 Eleven entries. Hurricane sot away, leading with Rainbow second. A protest was entered against Hurricane as not being a district hone, and Rainbow as second won the stakes, LADY'S PURSE. Cribbage (J. Booth) 1 Buccaneer (O. Vallance) ... 2 Daniel 0'Oonnell(C. Mould) 3 Ten in the totalisator, six on the winner.

Cribbage won by about four lengths. Buccaneer took the lead and kept it by the judge in the first round, when Cribbage went to the front and maintained his position to the finish, winning easily. Daniel O'Connell mado a desperate effort to pass his opponents, but found it more than he could do, FORCED HANDICAP.

After some trouble at starling Mountain Deer went to the front and was never collared and came past the judge hard held, with Shepherdess second. 30 in totalisator, 8 on winner, dividend £2 l7s.

The last race ended about half-past six, Everything went off quietly, but one or two of the Stewards complained of the overwork through the lack of energy on the part of the remaining fovr, •
