To the Editor of the Wairarapa Daily.
Masterton, October 28th, 1880.
Sih,—ln your leader of to-day you speak of the blunders of the Borough Council, but what about the blunders of the W. C. Council. Some time ago they called for tenders for two bridges, one at Dreyer's Rock, the other in the Pahiatua Block. I was the lowest tenderer for the one at Dreyer's Rock, but my tender was not accepted, nor yet that of Mr Petherick who was a few shillings above mine, but it was given to another contractor who was nine pounds ten over me, Perhaps the Council have more money than they know what to do with. No doubt Messrs McGregor and Pharazyn had some weighty reason for not accepting my tender. Perhaps it was because I was not known to them as a bridge contractor. If such is the case, it is no use an outsider putting in a. tender for work.
I tendered for the work in good faith, and was prepared to carry it out. Why should they not, in common fairness, give it to me, as the lowest tenderer J I have, etc, Fred. Chapman.
