Matthews, and T. Walker. . '. Theminutes meeting, were, read and confirmed. ■...■.; his- report, shewing credit balance at L 997 la, receipts during past month at LB3 8s 6d, and balance of rates outstanding L9619s 9d. ""Accounts-amounting to - L 297 103-2 d were passed for. payment. ■The Engineers report was then read; and recommendations contained therein adopted. - ■ It was resolved that the Board reason why the gate recently erected by,Mr John Oundy should be removed, as. no public inconvenience is occasioned thereby. ~. . ....:.;.' -, Resolved that the sum of LlO be paid to Mrs Hanlorifor quarter aore of land at Wharekaka for gravel pit. Mr Jackson wished to have the heavy boulders picked out on the road cutting at Woodside;- also to have .the road division at railway station completely repaired; . Mr Walker pointed out some necessary, repairs at the junction of No. 4 and No. .1 Wards, on aocount of some heavy timber traffic.recently, ■Mr A. Matthews stated the work spoken of'by him at last meeting, viz,, below Ponui, had not yet been done, but' he thought he would succeed in doing so next month, A small piece of work near Landsend would also be' necessary. Mr Walker asked that a culvert on the Kahautara, leading to Mr Feast's be replaced. Mr W, Smith asked that fresh tenders might be called for Wharekaka swamp road. RESOLVED. That the Clerk be instructed to give Mr Mason notice that the old road to the railway station has not been fenced off, and to request him to do it at once, as otherwise accidents may occur, Thai the wages for labor paid by the' Board be fixed at 6s per day for laborers, 7s for overseers, COKUESPONDENCE.' Inwards —Under Secretary Public Works, calling attention to the simplified mode of stopping or exchanging roads; from Mr McLeod/asking for assistance to' widen road j from J. Murphy aiid others, asking that J. Oundy be made to remove gate; from 0. Pharazyn, stating he would fence off the cross road from South Peatherston to Murphy's line, and asking that such road be put in condition for traffic, Resolved that Mr Pharazyn's letter be acknowledged, and he be informed the Board will make the cross road fit for traffic as soon as convenient, Mr J. P. Russell gave notice of motion —That a rent be charged for all unused roads when in occupation for grazing. Resolved that the collector be. instructed to take legal proceedings for the recovery of all outstanding rates. The meeting then terminated.
