Sib,—By .your yesterday's issuej IseT -.; you take exception' to a portion oV my ■- report laid before the Borough Tuesday.; evening last,: in which I sURe that with regard to the fire at Mr.Paytonls . . chimney, the work of sweeping' it some- ••■;, time .before was not done in. 8 proper manner.' I, believe I wrote that I had been told that the reason was as stated I would beg you to understand that I had , no object in'view, or interest to gain, individually by writing anything incorrect, and if it was so, I- much -regret- that I should have given belief to the Statement made to me, but I had also believed thatMr Payton had made a similiar statement in the Court. However, I shall not again put any confidence in the party whose statement I believed to have been true, .but aot as I believed I was'aoting when ,■ I was writing my report, 1 on the simple .. matter of "the truth, the .whole truth, and nothing but the truthi"'which it .. would be well if other writers Would,"do. ■""' Yours, etc. T.W, Shuie.. .'• Inspector-of'Nuisances. .:.'
