THE following resolution was passed at a ■meeting of the Masterton Highway Board held on the 20th,inst "That the 25th clause of the Impounding Act, 1874 be brought into force m this district," which is as fol lows " It shall bo lawful for the occupier of any land, adjoining any public highway to impound in the nearest public pound any cattle which may be found wandering at large in such public highway, and any cattle so impounded shall be dealt with in the same manner as cattle impounded under the provisions of this Act. Providing always that tlw provisions of this section sli'ill only apply to roads in respect of which any Highway Board may have passed a resolution as provided in the Ninetieth Section of the Highways Act, 1874.
