TOWN HALL, GREYTOWN.

The, entertainment by the G.N. Opera Company, assisted by ladies and .gentlemen, passed ;off satisfactorily on Monday evening, all those concerned doing their utmost to' keep the audience : in good temper, in which they thoroughly succeeded. The Greytown Private- Brass' .Band was, with their usual courtesy, present, their selections adding materially to the evening's enjoyment; The curtain rose to the piece entitled " The Conjugal Lesson," in which Messrs W. J. Salmon, (Vickersen, and Eonaldson were the prin-cipal-characters. We cannot commend the Company upon the selection of the piece, as it is totally unsuited for a small stage and hall,.and we hope better discretion will be used in the next. However, the characters were well sustained, and the piece passed off smoothly. After an interval of-five minutes, the second part of the programme was commenced by a gentleman, rendering a solo in firstclass; style,'for .which he -was encored. Mrs 0. Pharazyn next gave one of her many favorite pieces, for which she was loudly applauded." 'After which Miss Wardell rendered the" Maid, of Athens" very prettily, an/'encore being demanded and complied with. : Mr J. Mills next gave a ''comic,".and was loudly applauded, thus bringing the second part to an end, the only iault : we can find'with which is that'it waV-much' too short. The third part was filled-bj; th^shorl' piece entitled T "£ a. d," .the.Characters being Messrß W.. J. Salmon,' l Wickerson;': and Ronaldson, all of whom we're, well up in their parts, rendering -the duets; and chorußees in good style, i This is no doubt the. piece that has commanded most attention, as the .duets were exceedingly well.giveri, and ;must. have taken some practice. Mrs Knell and: Miss .Wyetfc kindly. played the various accompaniments, and the company are to be commended for the punctuality and despatch in executing the programme. Waitoticed particularly, the absence of that delay that is often so apparent in the kind. We hope this Company 1»\ continue an exception to the rule, ancT again favor the public '■, with; another evening's amusement, but (we would suggest) atTeduced prices.
