TINUI LICENSING BENCH.
To tk Editor of the Wairarapa Daily.
_SiK,-Much disappointment was felt ai Tinui on Tuesday last by some of the applicants for a transfer of license, when on attending the advertised meeting of the Licensing Court, only one of the Commissioners put in an appearance, and ht came for the purpose of reading a lettei lie had received from the Clerk of the Licensing Court, to say that as tl e R.M Court was t» sit on the 6th, theLieensim: Court would stand adjourned until that date; and yet no notice of the adjournment has been published, nor was any notice given to the constable in the dis trict, or. posted on the Hall where the Court was to be held. Now, ;this is i; very hard case when one of the parties to a transfer had to come a distance of thiit\ miles for no purpose and was told that he would have to attend again on .Saturday I understand the Clerk of the-Licensitlv Court hid given some of the.applicants notice of '.lie adjournment, hut why did he.not request the constable, to post a notice to that effuct on the Hall, so tla every one cuuid see it, and thereby savt Borne of the parties interested a long and
fruitless ride, At present there are only three memlei'B of the Licensing Court in this ib luted district, and as anile private business or indisposition prevents one of the three from attending, consequently there is an adjournment sometimes for a a fortnight and sometimes for a month. It is high time that an addition in the number of the Commissioners waß made, and there are several gentlemen in the neighborhood of Tinui well qnalified to fill the position. lam, <k, East Coast. ■'
