HORSE PARADE, GREYTOWN.

3 On Saturday last the first parade of the ( season was held under the auspices of the f Pastoral Association. The inclement . weather which we have experienced for r the last week, did not allow of owners . travelling their horses to it, and conse- , quently we were not surprised to see so 1 few entries. There was a large attendance P of the public," the dividing fence in the 3 paddock being lined with spectators. I Among the thoroughbred horses shown, , Mr P. R Tancred's chestnut, , PREMIER, i commanded universal attention, and de- ' served it. He seemed to be in splendid i condition, but as he is so well known, it is needless our commenting on him further. | MrW. O. Williams', of Kaiwaiwai, dark ' chestnut, DANEBURY, came next, and displayed plenty of life, : looking his best. He was much admired, being surrounded by knots of individuals, who all seemed unanimous in regarding him as a first-class specimen, Mr McDougal's dark brown horse, KINGFISHER, also received great praise, and looked exceedingly well. He looks even better than last season, and we have no doubt he will have a very successful season. The next on the field was Mr Mitchell's white horse, TROUBADOR. A son of the well known sire Quicksilver, the trotter. We were sorry to hear it rumored that the district is likely to lose this horse's services this season, as it is probable he will travel in Napier. Mr T. L. Thompson's black roadster and coacher CAMDEN Appeared, looking his best, although he had come a good distance in bad weather, He was the only one of his class shown. In the Clydesdale class there was only one entry, that of Mr Pike's dark bay horse PRIDE OF CANTERBURY, Who looks a likely horse to meet the wants of farmers in the district. He appeared to be in very good condition, although he ; also had travelled a long distance, We expect there will be a larger number entered at the Carterton and Masterton , parades on Friday and Saturday next re- ' spectively, should the weather prove '• favorable. \
