THE TARATAHI-GAUTERTON RACE CLUB.
To the Editor of the Wairarapa daily. Sir,—On behalf of those gentlemen connected with the late Race meeting, I shall have much pleasure t in replying to your leading article of the 10th inst, either to-morrow or the next day, I may state that the remarks you have made on the subject are perfectly warranted, with the exception of one or two observations, However, Messrs liay, Bennett, and myself, in the meantime, will be able to lay before the public, a clear statement which no doubt will bo found satisfactory, if read, As to Mr Bennett stating to the writer of the letter dated 30th of June, 1879, that tlie Secretary's books were so complicated that no one could make anything out of them, all I can say, is, that the writer must have been suffering from aii attack of bile, for, as mr statement will show, in a day or two, Mr Bennett and the Steward thoroughly understood the position and indebtedness of the Race Club, I have, &c., E. E. Edmunds.
