THE GRAPHIC AT THE SYDNEY EXHIBITION.
Tbe space occupied by the Graphic exhibit at Sydney will be 40 feet by 20 feet, and the area will be enclosed on three sides by a wooden partition, The inside of the partition will be entirely covered with black and white drawings by many of the eminent artists in England. The intention of the proprietor of the Graphic has been to furnish, for the first probably in the colony, " a Black and White Exhibition," and bo enable the colonists to see the works of many men whose repetition has already reached them. In the centre of the space a small printing machine will be at work, the motive power being pro cured from a gas engine. The machine has been placed at the disposal of the proprietor of the Graphic by Messrs Harrild and Sons, and the gas-engine by Messrs Crossley Bros. Arranged round the section will be various objects illustrating the whole process of producing an illustrated paper, as; for example, a case showing various stages through which paper passes in its manufacture; esparto, ng3, pulp, etc. There will also be found the various processes through which a sketch received from a special correspondent passes before coming a finished electrotype of an engraving ready for printing. First there will be original sketches sent from the Russo-Turkish and Zulu wars by the artists of the Graphic, then drawings and photographs on wood, engraved blocks, wax moulds of the blocks, and finally the electrotype, both as thm copper shells and as mounted electros, Stereotyping will also be fully illustrated in the same manner.
