—o [from our own coreesponkent] August sth, 1879. Since my last, things have gone on much in the same way, with the exception of really fine weather, which baa been quite a treat. The road overseer and men are busily employed strengthening the Tinui bridge, and if the weather continues favorable, all necessary repairs will soon be completed.

A schooner arrived at Cashpoint last Sunday, with a cargo of timber, consigned to Messrs Bennet and Elder of Langdale. I am informed that tin's material is "for building a residence at Orstlepoint, which might some day decome a second Brighton. Had we better roads, Oastlepomt would often be visited, even in the winter. It possesses many attractions, some of which are not generally known. _ The amount of agricultural land in this district is hardly known to some, /or on lea and Langdale Stations alone, there are now nine teams hard at work ploughing, and this season there will be little short of 700 acres in crop on these two runs, The Cashpoint Station appears to be going ahead in this respect also. "If reports are correct it is the intention of the Whareama ruuholders to ship their produce this year by steamer which will ply in the Whareama river; it is hoped that their enterprise will be successful. Sailing vessels accomplished this in years gone by, and why not steam power now, There is much to encourage this undertaking considering tint the produce of Lower Whareama will bo extensive this year and to be remunerative will not allow the expense of haulage more especially considering the length and slate of roads,
