To ike Editor of the Wairakafa daily, Sik—Will you inform tho public through your column! that Messrs Levin & Co., of Wellington, have a supply of rhodium and phosphorus for rabbit poisoning on hand at the undermentioned prices, viz., phosphorus at 8s Gd per lb, oil of rhodium at 5s 3d p»r oz. I send you the following recipe for mixing the poison in case you think ifr desirable to publish it : Rabbit poison to be mixed in the following proportions—--100 lbs wheat 1 lb phosphorus 1 oz rhodium 1 lb sugar 9 gallons water. Put wheat, water and sugar into a boiler (with a lid) Put it on the fire until it is heated throughout. Then place the sticks of phosphorus into a billy and pour boiling water over them, which will at once melt the phosphorus. Pour this immediately orer the heated wheat, and stir up thoroughly with a stick. Then put on the lid again, and as soon as it begins to boh take it off the fire. Put the boiler in a cool place and cover up well with bags. Let it stand for 24 hours. Then pour over it the rhodium, stir well up again with a stick and l;t it stand for another twelve hours, when it is ready for use. Lay it about in small heaps—a tablespoonful—wherever marks of rabbits a&Il It must not be supposed that rabfPii will come long distances to eat it. It will only catch those in the immediate vicinity of where it is laid. The best time to lay it is the wet months. Water preserves it, but the sun soon dries it up. It has to lie two or three days ; before rabbits will touch it. Sheep and , cattle do not eat it.—l am, &c. S. Dodgshun.
