MASTERTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
A meeting of the Masterton School Committee wus held yesterday afternoon, Present—Messrs Feist, (chairman) Blown, Wrigley, McKee, and Payton, The minutes of the previous meeting were confirmed. • The Treasurer reported that the balance to the credit was £sl7s Id. CORRESPONDENCE. From the Secretary, Mr McQueen, tendering his resignation. Prom the Secretary of the Education Board, stating that the Board had decided to advertise for the Assistanship vacancy in the School. From Mr Pilkington, dated July 1, stating that on account of ill-health, he had closed the school for the holidays. ACCOUNTS. Several small accounts weie passed for payment. SECRETARY. Mr McQueen's resignation was accepted, and Mr Easthope was appointed his successor, on the'motion of. of Mr J. Payton. VISITING MEMBER. Mr Wrigley was appointed the visiting member for the ensuiug month.
GREYTOWN SCHOOL COMMITTEE, .ii i i The ordinary meeting of the "Grey town School Committee was held at Mi' Bock's office on Tuesday. Present—Messrs Bock (chairman); Hornblow, Fenton, and Wakelin. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.
•.".CORRESPONDENCE, From Education Board re capitation, and stating that the amount short sent would be forwarded-'at August Ist, together with Miss Burch-s salary—From contractor asking' for extension of time of founveeks, to complete teachers'residence. Mr Wakelin proposed, Mr Fenton seconded—That tlie extension of time applied for by the contractor stand over, and that the work 'be proceeded, with as fast as practicable and that the inspector be requested to advise,; the chairman as to the advisability of extension of time. Carried. Accounts ainpuntiog to LIJ Is 3d were passed for payment. It was' resolved— That il'timinationiy for election of a membel' of the committee,instea,d of Mr Cowper resigned, be lodged with the chairman at least 3 days previous to next meeting. It was resolved—That Mr Haines be asked to distribute prizes. It was resolved— That the chairman be requested to see to the removal of .dividing fonce.
FEATHERSTOJi SCHOOL COM- , _MITTEE. A special meeting of the Featiierston Local School Committee .was held on Monday evening, to, make .arrangements for carrying on the High School. Mem. bers present—Messrs Cox (chairman), Cundy, Keys, Faber, Reynolds, Toogood. Additions are to ..be made to the present building, to allow of one of the present rooms to be used as a class-room. The following were chosen as extra subjects to be taught;— Latin, French, Euclid, Algebra, and English literature. Fees to be one guinea per quarter.
