TARATAHI-CARTERTON HIGHWAY BOARD.
A meeting of the Wardens was held on Ist instant at the office of the Board, Carterton. Present-Messrs W.'Booth (Chairman), 6. H. Lister-Kaye, S. Nix, and J. Reynolds. Mr Strawbridge telegraphed an apology for his absence. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Mr 6. H. Lister-Kaye was appointed Treasurer. BALANCE AT ISAIIK, The Bank Book'showed'a balance at Bank as follows ;
Jas. Phelp's account, £3O 83, was hold over until the return of the Warden, MAIN HOAD, The County Council Clerk attended with the statement of main road account durine the time the Council took the toll rent. ° The Chairman replied he would attend the tfext meeting of the Council on the 9th instant, TENDERS, The Clerk was instructed to call for tenders for removing 50 chains of wire fencing on Francis' Line. WARDEN, The Clerk was instructed to take immediate steps to have a Warden appointed for No. 7. Ward, and Wm, Stuart Forbes was appointed Returning Officer. CORRESPONDENCE. The following correspondence was received and read : From the Solicitor, with reference to the lease of Toll-gate. From Wm. Skey, requesting permission to erect a fence and gateway across a lino of road bounding his property, DEAUTATIONS. A, McKenzie waited on the Board and applied to have a road opened for which had been closed with the sanction of the Board, for the use of those now settled on that line. C, H, Zabell applied to have the bush felled on a road line between his section and R. Butler's, to enable some settlors to have access with carts to their lands; and then made some objections to a road line lately cut through his land. S. Swan attended about the felling of some bush on a road line bounded by his property, which had not been done, The Chairman explained that the promised subscriptions towards tho works had not been paid. The next meeting was appointed for the 29th July. ■
