MASTERTON PUBLIC LIBRARY.
To Ik Editor of (he Wauiarapa Daily. Sip,,—l observe that a meeting of the Committee of the Public Library is convened for Tuesday next As, no cloubt, Bome important matter will be discussed for the public weal, it may bo no harm to remind the Committee that it would be very desirable to have a complete set of the Acts of the General Assembly—the laws under which we live—provided for the information of the public. The Acts from the year 1865 should be complete, but, I believe, there are several just now missing. It is not fair to remove them from "the Institute clandestinely, I observe the Acts of 1877 were received m numbers and are not yet bound; no doubt several of them have also been lost, llic Acts for 1878 don't appear to have been received at all, although the Masteitou Institute is entitled to have a copy by order of the Government—l am, &c., One ok the Public.
the levels of the borough, To the Editor of the Wairaraiu wily. Shi —As I am strongly imbued with the notion of going to Zululand as an assistant surgeon-having had some experience as such in the Taranaki war—l am disposed to sell my theodolite and other instruments, and as certain gentlemen, I understand, are about to_ undertake the levels of the Borough, I would
strongly recommend that the C.ouncil should purchase these ai tides oil their behalf. There is no doubt of it being a wise speculation on behalf of the 1 ratepayers, but as it would not look well to see any member of the Works Committee carrying on his back his' pack of instruments, I would also be disposed to sell my horse and pack saddle.—l am t &c,, An Ex-Sdkveyob.
