THE "ALPHA" PATENT PORTABLE GAS-MAKING APPARATUS Is undoubtedly one of the most ingenious and useful inventions of the age, Over 15 years of patient investigation and varied experiment have been spent by the Inventor in bringing the Machine to its present state of perfection. It has been tested by Committees of scientific men, and pronounced admirable. Wherever exhibited it has gained the Gold Medal or highest honors, and the evidence of its utility is probably best confirmed by the fact over One 'Thousand Machines are already in operation at Home, in Churches, Stores, Factories, Railway Stations, Private Houbcs, Hotels, Public Buildings, and, in fact, wherever light is required and coal gas' is not obtainable. This Gas .Machine has been adopted by the following corporate Companies ami individuals, all world-known names( London and North Western Railway Co,; Midland Railway Co,; Duke of Wellington; Earl of Durham ; Viscount Pollington; Hon, Henry I'ctre; Tritton, Esq., Banker Lombard Street; St, Francis' Zavicr College; the Atherstonc Kennels, &c,, Ac. Safetv,—Comparatively speaking there is no danger in using gas. You arc not dependent upon tho carefulness of servants, or in ' fear of their carelessness in filling, trimming, and lighting lamps. You charge the Machine yourself once a month or so, turn on or off the service pipe, put the key in your pocket, and your mind is at rest as to the possibility of lire or accident from this source. There is no trouble in cleaning and replenishing ; no breakage of glasses or dropping of oil; you simply turn the tap and light the gas. The Machine once erected and connexion made, tho Gasolene makes gas as cheaply as coal, that is from 11/- to 12/- a thousand cubic feet; an ordinary burner consumes about live cubic feet per hour. Tho Machines arc made from eight lights and upwards, and with gas pipes and fittings complete,, at a rough estimate cost of about £3 10s per light. The Gasolene is 3/9 per gallon, and three gallons make from 1,000 to 1,200 eubic feet of gas, The Gasolene though absolutely non-explosive, is highly inflammable, and no light must be brought near it when charging the Machine, which should always be done in daylight, Full printed instructions are given with each Machine, and any one of ordinary comprehension can learn its working in half-an-hour.
