MASTERTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
a_ Tlio first meeting of tlio newly-elected Committee was held last evening. Present —Messrs Feist, Brown. MoKcc, Wriglcy, and Payton. In the absence of Mr Craync, Mr Feist was voted to the chair. The Rev J. McKee, understanding that Mr Croyno positively declined to bo reelected as chairman, proposed Mr Feist for the office. ■Mr Payton seconded the nomination. Mr Feist said lie had not had much experience hi working the present Act, and would propose Mr Payton as chairman. Mr Payton declined to stand, as ho preferred to see Mr Feist appointed. Mr Feist was unanimously elected. The Eev J. McKee moved the appointment of Mr R, Brown a.<j secretary. Mr Brown expressed his willingness to act for a time, but could not permanently undertake the duty. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr Payton, seconded by the llcv J. McKeo, that applications be invited for the office of secretary to the committee at a salary of five guineas per annum. Mi' Holmes Crayne was elected Treasurer on the motion of the Eev J. McKee, who stated that Mr Crayne was willing to accept that office. The following Standing Orders were adopted on the motion of Mr B, Brown:— STANDING ORDERS, 1. That the Committee meet at the Council Chambers on tho second Thursday in each month, at 3 p.m. 2. That the proceedings of the Committeo be open to the public. 3. That the head master be requested to furnish tlio Committee with a'monthly report, and when convenient to attend meetings, to give any information that may be required. 4. That a member of the Committee- visit the school once in each week, and attend to anymiubrmatter which may rcimireigjj adjusted, and that a diary be school-room in which marks, suggestions, or^SB3SSBt at all mcßtijtffl^H^HHjfl
