At the conference of the wholesale general merchants of the Dominion in Dunedin last week, it was resolved to make strong representations to the Government that the time had long passed when a reversion to the stamp duty of Id on cheques and receipts should be given effect to. It was pointed out that the duty of 2d was introduced during the war.
