PRESENTED TO MR F. F SIMPSON.

WON DURING PAST SEASON

Before proceeding with the business in connection with the formation of an amateur athletic club iu Waimate, the opportunity was taken of presenting to Mr F. F. Simpson the Alcßae Cup for open competition in South Canterbury, which he had won. The Chairman of the meeting, Mr Geo. Dash, said he would give Messrs Mcßae and Lee (Timaru) the opportunity of presenting the Cup. When the Timaru Association was first formed no man took more interest in it than Mr Mcßae, who had generously donated a cup for the winner of the most buttons during the season.

Mr Mcßae said he had much pleasure in congratulating Air Simp son on his wonderful performance among some of the good men in Tim -iru. It % was an object lesson to Timaru men in the difficulties he had overcome, the chief of which was the distance to the meetings. On that account he was to be doubly congratulated. The speaker hoped he would keep going and do great things in the future. The speaker would congratulate Waimate on ’.reducing one of Mr Simpson’s ability and calibre.
