BRITISH POLITICS.
(Per Press Association—Copyright.) LONDON, April IL Mr Churchill spent Sunday at his home at Chartwell Manor, near Westerham, polishing up the Budget. Most of the day he tramped round the tennis court memorising his speech, which is expected to take two hours to deliver. Six former Chancellors will be; included in the audience, of whom Mr Philip Snowden, Mr Lloyd George, and Mr Robert Horne will speak. If Mr Churchill intends to spring surprishsy the secret has beeh well kept. LONDON, April 10. The Labour correspondent of the “Daily Express” says the Socialists and Trade Unionists are uimnimouslly opposed to the Trade Union Bill, but differ concerning the means of opposing the measure. The industrial leaders outside the House of Commons do not want the Parliamentarians to move amendments' but want the Labour M.P’s who did not attend the Committee stage, to devote themselves instead to a countrywide platform campaign. Parliamentarians intend to move for the rejection of the Bill, and desire further prolongedly to oppose every clause and every line Left wingers are urging steady obstruction, similar to that which the .Irish Nationalists used to carry out, - with scenes of the expulsion of mem- , tiers. Responsible Union leadens in no way support the suggested general strike sis a protest against the Bill. Various methods of fighting the Bill . will be discussed by the Council of <- the Trade Union Congress on April t 113, and at the National Conference of £ 'Trade Union Executives, April 29. ?
