ELECION'OF SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
pIE Board in pursuance of the, power- conferred by ' the “Education Act,. 1914,” hereby directs that a PUBLIC MEETING OF HOUSEHOLDERS be held in eaehSCHOOL DISTRICT in the Canterbury Education District on MONDAY, May 2nd, at Half-past Seven O’Clock in the evening, for the Elc<L tion of a''School Committee for each District.
Wharf the Yearly.. Average Attend - -afteo-atthe.School• or Sahaols.-in the School District for the year ending December 31st, 1926, has not exceeded One Hundred Children, the number of Members of the School Committee- shall be FIVE; where such atendanef is over One Hundred and not over Two Hundred, the number, of Members shall be SEVEN and where snch attendance Ist over Two Hundred, the iiuniber of Members shall be NINE. The place of Meeting shall be the School in each District,’ and this is understood to mean the Main School in any District which has mere than one School. The Board further directs that the First Meeting of each School Com-.
mittee be held in the place, appoint - ed for the Election and immediately after the Election. The Board further calls upon the Householders in eaeh District to SEND IN to the Chairman of the
School Committee (or the. Commissioner, as the case may be), in writ, ing on or before MONDAY, 25th. April, not later than S' p.m., the NAMES OF PERSONS, being householders, NOMINATED' by them to serve upon the Committee. Such nominations must be signed.by the ; Proposer and by the Candidate, and
must be in the forni set forth in the Third S'-hcdu'le to the Act, or to the 'effect thereof. In addition to such nominations, in School Districts in which the average attendance for the year 1926 did NOT exceed 240, any Householder present at the Annual Meeting may nominate aliv Householder who consents by word of mouth or in writing to be nominated. (In the case of School Districts in which the average attendance for the year 1.926 exceeded 240 the Act does NOT provide for the acceptance of verbal nominations). Under the provisions of the Education Amendment Act, 1919, a pei'ent or guardian who has a child attending the School is now eligible for election on the Committee, irrespective of his place of residence.
