HOSPITAL YEAR.
A SATISFACTORY REPORT. That the Hospital Committee had planned their finances very accurately is shown by the following list of estimates and expenditure for year .ending March 31, 1927, the estimates being given in parentheses;— Expenditure.—Provisions (£1200) £1271 Is 7d; Surgical (£850) £652 4s lOd; Domestic (£1600) £1857 4s Wages (£3000) £2952 17s 6d; Grounds (£100) £124 7s 7d; Rent (£l2) £l2; Miscellaneous (£3B) £8 10s; total (£6800) £6878 5s 6d.
Capital Ependiture—Equipment (£300) £162 5s 6d; Buildings and electric light (£600) £lB4 12s; total (£900) £346 17s 6d.
Receipts—Patients’ fees (£1800) £1790 ISs Yd.
Receipts anti Expenditure on Grounds. Receipts—Produce £397 7s 7d, sale of pork £B6 10s sd, other sales £8 14s; total £492 12s. Expenditure—Wages £3BO Is 6d, Farm work £lO 7s, Stock purchases £7l 0s 6d, Rent £l2, Miscellaneous £43 0s Id; total £516 9s Id. Return of Patients for the Yeai. Number of patients admitted during the year, 665; Number of days collective stay, 13,223, average num ber of occupied beds, 36.2. When this report was placed before the Committee last night, the chairman said that the estimates had worked out wonderfully well. The steward said that this year they had handled 100 more patients than last year, but there had been less occupied beds. There were very few chronics this year, and the average stay was 19 days as against 22 days last year, Mr Dash said it ought to be very satisfactory to the Board. The report was adopted.
